Heavy crude OSPs strengthen in Oct.

2017-10-10

Official Selling Prices (OSPs) for select heavy grades were set higher in Oct., up sharply for the second month in a row. The OSP for Iranian Heavy increased its premium over Arabian Heavy, which saw its premium narrow to Iraq's Basra Heavy. Meanwhile, the OSP for Mexican Maya increased in Sept. and was not yet available for Oct. Also, the outright price for Indonesian Duri jumped in Aug., the latest month that full pricing data was available. The following chart shows OSP trends for Arabian Heavy, Iranian Heavy, Basra Heavy, Duri, and Maya heavy crudes from May through Oct. 2017. [Note: Arabian Heavy, Iranian Heavy, and Basra Heavy are priced against the Oman crude benchmark, while Maya is priced against the US West Texas Intermediate benchmark, and Duri is priced outright.]
